New Ladies

I would like to introduce to you three new ladies now at Caroles Country Store, Esme', Elma, and Ella. These lovely ladies are sisters, or as I call them Sewing Companions. They are bit more primitive and I must admit I love the way they turned out. Each one carries with her a little basket that serves as a little pincushion, a couple of strawberries, and a little sewing roll.

These three sisters of the needle and thread have laughed, cried, shared in each others dreams and hopes, and they are now hoping to share the same for someone else.
They would love it if you could come and visit with them. I know I will miss each of them when they go.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit here.
God Bless,
Julie

Libby in Austin Style and Humble Beginnings

This is Libby, she is dressed in Austin style. She will be at The Primitive Gathering tomorrow night. I hope you can join her their and check out all the other WONDERFUL Artisans.
I thought you might enjoy seeing the humble beginnings of a doll maker. These dolls are some of the first cloth and mache dolls I have ever made.
I started my doll making in 1991, but I did not start doing cloth and mache dolls until 1993. I was inspired by Gail Wilson's Primitive Molded Doll kit.
These dolls have been living with one of my sisters for the past seventeens years.
This is Mary, Her title is, A time to Quilt, She about 14" tall. She was made in 1993.

This is Emily, her title is A time to gather, She also is about 14" tall and was made in 1993.

This is my very first large cloth and mache doll made in 1994 and she is 24" tall, and I did not name her, Not sure why. She was inspired by the antique paper mache head dolls Greiner and Superior dolls. I used to make a lot of these large dolls and the smaller dolls.
I made my first Queen Anne doll in 1997 after seeing one in book about antique dolls. I was looking for inspiration and I fond one that would stick with me and continue to influence me today. The doll I saw was made with a wooden hands and legs, but had a paper mache head and torso.
I still have my very first Queen Anne doll but she lives with my other sister and as soon as I can I will post pictures of her.

A Closer look at her face.
Enjoy!!! and God Bless!!!

Once in a life time

The other night the most incredible thing happened to me. I get off of work at 10 o'clock pm as usual, and I stopped in to check on my mother before heading home. As I was leaving my mother's I was stopped in my tracks by what I thought was the sun falling to the earth. I was terrified and dumb founded at the same time. Then I Saw the thing fly a crossed the sky and only then did I realize what it was. It was the most biggest shooting star or meteor that I had ever seen. It light up the skyline as if the sun was coming out.
The picture here I got off the web and does not really do what I saw justice. But I wanted to give you some idea what it looked like. I am not sure how anyone got pictures because it did happen so fast, but I am glad someone did. INCREDIBLE!!!
ENJOY!!!!

Queen anne Inspired dolls to come

I hope everyone is enjoying this most WONDERFUL day in Spring!!!! Although the sun has only peeked out a couple of times, the day is still very fine out!!! I am loving this.
I had the ladies out today getting their pictures taken for their up and coming Spring debut in the Queen Anne Inspired style. Claudette dressed in her new dress from Paris will be visiting over at Simply Primitives, and Margaret ( The Eternal Widow) will be visiting at Early work Mercantile. Now both ladies are scheduled to visit on the first of April, but both ladies are fearing they could be made into fools, So I would be watching for them the night before on March 31st. The ladies hope you will pop in and visit for while. They both dearly love to chat and drink their tea.
I have had to wear ear plug around these two chatty pair. Just when you think they are done they start in on something new.
ENJOY!!!!
God Bless!!!!

A lady and her hat

Actually two ladies and their hats. Meet Sarah wearing her favorite yellow bonnet. She is coming to Simply Primitives.
Meet Anna, wearing her new bonnet loaded with frills. She will be at Early Work mercantile.
http://www.earlyworkmercantile.com/

These are the first of the spring ladies for the year, but most certainly not the last. I have spring fever and working on these ladies bonnet only made me long for it even more.
I named Sarah after one of my favorite books and television movie, Sarah plain and tall. As I was working on the yellow bonnet the only thing that kept coming to mind was Glenn Closes voice telling them in the letter that she will arrive by train and she would be wearing a yellow bonnet. I also must admit I was hearing one more thing in my head. From the Easter parade, " in her Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, she'll be the grandest lady in the Easter Parade"
Well her hat really isn't all that frilly, so I started in on Anna's hat with frills in mind.
I hope all is well and Thank you so much for taking the time to look,
God Bless,
Julie

Something A Little Different

Wow!!! It has been a long time since
I have posted anything here.
We celebrated Christmas, Rang in the New year, and I have turned another year older. A lot sure can happen in a little over a month.

And tonight I offer something a little different, at least to web anyway. Meet Jane , she is my Queen Anne inspired cloth doll. She has made her debut over at Early Work Mercantile. Every now and then I have an aching for a good ole cloth doll. I plan on making
several cloth ladies
this year.
They are in my blood.
Each lady will be unique
and a one of a kind
just as my other ladies
are. Let me know
what you think?
God Bless,
Julie

Meet Hester

This is Hester, She will be arriving at Carole's Country store today. She is the third dolly in The Face of the Queen Anne series. I just love how this lady turned out. She is humbly dressed in vintage and antique cottons and she has a pair of antique brown glass eyes.
Hester is not a fancy sort, (but she could be if her husband would let her). She is quite content with the blessings the Lord has given her and has known much joy in her heart. She has been busy planning her Christmas feast for her family, and making little gifts of the heart late at night for her loved one's stockings. She is giggling inside of the thought of their face's when they see what she has made for them.
Merry Christmas Hester!!!!
God Bless everyone!!!!

Fun!!!

Three of my great nieces and nephew. Macaiah, Javin, and Nahaila, and lets not forget Mr Piper coming out of the tree!!!!
I just thought I should add to the post a little information about about the wee ones.
Macaiah is just turn one and is not quite sure what I was up to. She is going to be a tall lady when she grows up. The doctors say over six feet. Her brother Javin, who is only three but the size of a second grader will be 6'6'' to 7' feet tall when he is done growing. Then we have Nahaila. She will be two on January first. She is our New Years baby, and is tiny for her age. I think her cousins took all the height. But do not let her little size fool you. This little lady can whip her big cousin Javin at times. You would think they where brother and sister . They are my brother's grand children and oooh what fun they are!!!
Then we have Mr. Piper, who can out last the enegizer bunny any day of the year, and yes he really is coming out of the tree.

Coming to Simply Primitives

Meet Gabby, She is an Angel of the most high and
she will coming to Simply Primitives on the first of November. She is 21'' tall and I think she has a more of a Victorian look than a Queen Anne look. You will have to visit her and let me know what you think.

In the mean time I hope the rest you are having more fall like weather than we are here in my little corner of the earth. We have had nothing but unseasonable cold weather and lots of cloudy and rainy days. We are blessed at times with a sunny day or sunny afternoon from time to time . Our peak season kinda came and went with out enjoying all of its wonderful splendor. The leaves have dropped quickly and we are left with many bare looking trees. Most of my outside work is done, but I need this weekend yet to finish it. According to the weather report Saturday will probably be the best time to get it done.
I am getting ready to settle in for a long winter and so are all the critters. Although the grass really does need to be mowed one more time, I do not think it is going to get done. I think it can wait for spring.
I am hoping all is well with everyone and Many, Many, Blessing to all,
Julie

"The Face of the Queen Anne" at Carole's Country Store

I would like to introduce Caroline and Joycelyn. They are the first of a series of dolls I will be offering at Carole's Country store. It was quite humbling for me when Carole asked me if I would be interested in making dolls for her American Artisans Store.

These ladies are a bit more primitive then what I have been offering on my other selling sites. They wear humble cottons and theirs faces and hands are more antiqued and show wear as if they where made hundreds of years ago. I am so pleased on how these ladies turn out, and I humbly present "The Face of the Queen Anne'' Exclusively at Carole's Country Store.

Have a wonderful Autumn evening and many, many Blessing to you all!!!

Amelia in Mourning

Meet Amelia, She is a Queen Anne Mourning doll and she will be coming to The Primitive Gathering Tonight. Amelia is the last of the mourning dolls for this year.
I know at the moment it does not feel like winter, but it is that time of the year and I must start getting things ready for winter season. So I will not be updating any of selling sites in October. I will be back in November with Queen Anne Angels and A little surprise.

I hope this wonderful day in September finds everyone
